Architecture Design Studio 1 ：Self-Expression Through Object (AUGUST 2014)

The first project of Architecture Design Studio 1 is about creating an abstract 3D model to show your own personalities through object, shape and form.

Objectives of Project :
1. To explore different possibilities of generating ideas thorough rigorous design processes.
2. To explore various approaches in translating ideas and abstracting translation and interpretation.
3. To explore varied forms of artwork in communication and expression of self and its sense.
4. To enhance ability not only in sketching but in crafting three dimensional design or art form.

Learning Outcome :

1. Draw students’ attention to subjective matters which play a major role in architecture

2. Produce objects to communicate ideas

3. To explore one form of generating design concept/idea

4. Construct a representational piece of art based on the initial ideas that have been abstracted and

redefined through the process of translation and interpretation

Submission Requirement

 Actual Model or 3D Artwork (1:1 scale )

 Maximum dimension of object or art form is 300mm x 300mm x300mm; no side of the

objects dimension shall exceed the above mentioned.

 1-Panel only of A2 board

 written explanation or write (50 words)

diagrams, thumbnail pictures and sketches to explain more clearly.

 Verbal presentation ( 5 minutes)

- Schedule of presenter to be confirmed

- Pin up time 8:00-9:00 AM

- Presentation time 9:00-11:00 AM

My approach to this project is creating a model that shows the determination of mine going through all the obstacles throughout my life.

It was a new challenge to me in this project as I really had no idea of what to create at first, after meeting my tutor and according to his advice reading on the book Form, Space and Order, I had found a path on creating something that reflects myself. It wasn't a really developed idea but that it was an introduction to me on translating personality, words, into basic architecture forms. Throughout this project, I believe that I can do well in my next projects, further learning on how to translate idea into designs.
