Module Synopsis
The module Measured Drawing aims to develop an understanding of the principles of building preservation and the method of recording it in three documentation methods which is Measured Drawings, Written Documentation and Photographic Documentations.
We are divided into groups in different amount of people accordingly to the size and difficulty of the site.
I had been divided to a group of 25 people including me. Our site is the Courthouse Museum located in Batu Gajah, Ipoh.
Module Teaching Objectives
The teaching objectives of the module are:
1. To introduce several methods of documenting historic structures to preserve an accurate record of historic properties that can be used in research and other preservation activities
2. To introduce basic preparation of measured drawings of an approved building or structure to prescribed standard.
Module Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1. Identify and classify architectural historic structure
2. Recognize and recall architectural historic structure documentation method
3. Recommend the appropriate method of architectural historic documentation
4. Explain the application of architectural historic documentation
5. Recognize and recall techniques of measured drawing and documentation
6. Explain the as-built building constructions, architectural details and elements
7. Describe architectural cultural heritage
8. Execute fieldwork and hands-on measurements
9. Translate measured data into scale drawings
Throughout the module, we will be given a total of three projects:
Project 1 : Sketchbook and Journal
Project 2 : Measured Drawing
Project 3 : Report and Video on measured building

Objectives of Project
The objectives of this project are as follows:
To train students to be observant to their surrounding
To instil the culture of documenting as part of the learning process in architectural education
To enhance the students’ graphic communication skills in capturing important details and the spirit
of the place
Learning Outcomes of this Project
Identify architectural historic structure
Capture the tangible and intangible essence that is contained within the architecture realm
Submission Requirement
A minimum of 10 pages of sketches on A4 art block or good quality papers spiral bound with a
transparent cover at the front and black mounting board at the back.
Softcopy of the cover page format is available on TIMES. However, students have the freedom of
either typing or writing manually (using neat and readable handwritings) on the cover page.
The sketches are to comprise at least 2 each of these categories:
1. The Genius Loci
2. Poetic Quality
3. Cultural Attributes
4. Technical /Construction details
5. Orthographic Drawings
